Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ Camera Review: Portrait Mode Falls Well Short of Expectations

Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ is the name of the latest mid-range phone from Motorola, which comes in three colors and will soon hit the market. This new model from Motorola has been revealed by the company through its teaser website.

According to information, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ should debut soon, because Motorola has already released teaser pictures on X as well as on the official Flipkart page in India. It is already clear that the device does not differ much in appearance from the Motorola Edge 70 Pro. Thus, the device can be available in either red or turquoise with a fabric finish, or in brown with wood texture.

The screen seems to have a slight curve on both sides, and the selfie camera is located in a punch hole. There are three cameras as well as an LED flash in the square block of the rear camera module. Moreover, the inscription around the LED flash shows that the 12 mm ultra-wide-angle and 81 mm telephoto lenses are used, which means that the telephoto camera provides optical zoom of about 3.5x compared to the main camera.

From the picture above, we can see that the camera supports 35mm equivalent focal lengths of 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm, but at least in the case of 35mm and 50mm, the smartphone needs to use digital zoom. The most surprising thing about this is the quality of bokeh simulation seen in one of the sample photos. Instead of using bokeh simulation which gives the effect of reducing sharpness based on the distance from the object, Motorola only uses the maximum bokeh and the subject in the photo.

The edges of the subjects cannot even be recognized properly. If the portrait mode offered by the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ really does work this badly, it is best not to use it at all. According to Motorola, the Edge 70 Pro+ will be available “soon,” but there are no additional details on its price or other specifications.
